Space-saving storage technology for higher capacity and greater variety of products

With direct access to additional types of products and lower handling costs, a compact storage system for glass contributes to improved workflows and greater flexibility. The individual storage positions are mounted side by side on rails to save space. For removal, an opening is created either manually or automatically so that the glass can be removed quickly without prior re-sorting.

More often than not, it’s the minor activities and extra jobs on the side that take up staff time and inhibit productivity. While optimisation almost always refers to machines and their availability, digital support for staff holds the promise of additional potential, too.

Laser-marked: uniquely identifiable and traceable at any time

ES-GuardS, the advanced laser marking system from HEGLA boraident, makes non-destructive, permanent marks on glass without influencing the material’s properties. If the marking is made in the form of a QR or data matrix code, the pane will be uniquely identifiable at all times. And if the marking process is fully automated and carried out prior to cutting, later mix-ups will be virtually impossible.

HEGLA Fahrzeugbau offers top industry vehicles at the Fensterbau Frontale

Regardless of a new trade fair date, the vehicle special "Fensterbau Frontale-Edition" will be available from 18.3.2020. Digitalisation and automation may currently be the focus in the glass and window industry, but at the end of every production run, the glass and structural elements still have to be delivered to clients safely, efficiently and in an operator-friendly manner. HEGLA, Germany’s market leader for such transport attachments, will present both an industry vehicle for a special price and a transporter specifically developed for urban transport at the upcoming Fensterbau Frontale in Nuremberg. “We are already looking forward to presenting our industry innovations at the trade fair,” said HEGLA Fahrzeugbau Managing Director Hans-Peter Löhner.

HEGLA bids farewell to retirees and honours longstanding employees

The yearly event held to honour longstanding employees and say farewell to staff entering their well-earned retirement is always a highlight of the HEGLA calendar. “People who stay at one company for so long are becoming such a rarity,” HEGLA’s Managing Director, Bernhard Hötger, was keen to point out during the celebrations. “All of you have been contributing to the success of HEGLA for decades now, enriching our team with your personalities. For that I want to thank you – on behalf of the management, the Board, and all of our colleagues.”

Tarpaulin covers for racks revisited

Glass racks must have low sills for transport setups with maximum loading heights. They also make it easier for employees to position heavy and oversized glass and elements. But depending on the weather, the rack support’s short distance to the ground also potentially exposes the load to rain, splash water, and damage from stones during transport.

HEGLA Maschinenbau: Extended capacity for internationally popular high-tech products “made in Kretzschau”

The HEGLA Group is once again investing in its Kretzschau site and developing its production space. The topping-out ceremony for the new HEGLA Maschinenbau GmbH & Co. KG building in Kretzschau took place on 29 August 2019. Around 70 employees took part in a lively event to celebrate the inauguration of the new production hall, which is located directly adjacent to the existing facility on Industriering. HEGLA succeeded in acquiring no less than 3200 m² of additional ground space to construct the facility, offering new capacity for the company’s mechanical engineering projects and the production of Halle/Saale-based HEGLA boraident’s systems.

Three times the expertise: The HEGLA Group focuses on performance in its exhibition at Vitrum

Under the trade fair slogan “Three times the expertise”, the HEGLA Group presentation at Vitrum 2019 in Milan will focus on solutions for the increasingly complex requirements for machine performance, digitalisation, and laser-supported product tracking and finishing. This focal area also represents the Group’s aims of continuous further development and growth. Alongside HEGLA Maschinenbau, the Group has now been home to HEGLA-HANIC, the software company, and the laser application specialist HEGLA boraident for almost one year. “Vitrum 2019 marks our first time exhibiting as a group, and each of our companies can benefit from the additional expertise of the others’ specialisms,” said HEGLA Managing Director Bernhard Hötger. “We also have some innovations and advanced developments to show and are looking forward to the trade fair with confidence.”

Transporting Heavy Loads Easily and Professionally

Despite all the progress of digitalisation, at the end of every manufacturing process, the IG units, structural elements, or pieces of glass still have to be shipped, safely and efficiently, to their destination. And the options available for logistics are just as varied as the requirements for transporting these typically heavy, bulky goods. According to Managing Director Hans-Peter Löhner from HEGLA Fahrzeugbau, not too long ago vehicles in the sector were typically only equipped with an external rack: “Companies that require more flexibility, additional loading positions, and want to impress their customers with an optimally organised vehicle can use additional fittings to customise their delivery vehicle to their specific needs.”

High tech from Kretzschau is popular around the world

German mechanical engineering is prized worldwide for its quality and innovative strength. But although the companies in question often have unique products and services at their disposal, their importance is generally barely perceived by the public. Process automation in glass cutting — the potential of robotic technology

Robots appear in any science fiction story. For many, they are synonymous with technical progress. Window profiles compactly stored for every customer requirement

A compact storage system can contribute to fast and flexible processing of customer requirements when it comes to window construction. Because with new profiles, more colours and different systems, it has become more challenging to meet all the needs of building developers promptly and to their complete satisfaction. Not only have demands on the visual properties of windows increased, but double-insulating glass, triple-insulating glass and the increasing share held by laminated glass are also making themselves felt in ever more individual orders. It is easiest for the window manufacturer if the customer chooses a profile and colour combination that is available and quickly accessible. It becomes more complex if the requested material has to be ordered or if it is only possible to determine whether it is still available in the warehouse by re-stacking and sorting. If the requested profile is then still in an external warehouse, the material can only be processed after a warm-up period, which may depend on the season.
